Assam native reaches Mount Everest, 7th Assamese to climb the peak

Guwahati: Hedayet Ali from Assam has become the 7th Assamese climber to summit Mount Everest.

Ali is originally from Hajo in Kamrup but is based in California, USA.

He reached the summit of Everest at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The Guwahati Explorers Club congratulated Hedayet who also summited Mount Acconoguwa, the highest peak in South America.

He also climbed Mount Elbrus and Mount Kilimanjaro.

Ali by profession is a software engineer in Silicon Valley in the United States.

The expedition was the first of a season.

Ali reached the summit in an international team made up of 11 other mountaineers.

Mount Everest is Earth’s highest mountain above sea level, located in the Mahalangur Himal subrange of the Himalayas.

The Sino-Nepal border crosses its highest point.

Its altitude (snow depth) of 8,848.86 m (29,031.7 ft) was last established in 2020 by Chinese and Nepalese authorities.
