Chickasaw Country to Celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week | Community

Locals will have the opportunity to explore south-central Oklahoma and celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week May 1-7 by entering the “Spot a Pin to Win” contest.

The Chickasaw Country’s “Spot a Pin to Win” contest aims to promote travel to showcase a variety of destinations throughout the week, according to a statement.

A stop on the tour will be the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center in Duncan.

Paige Williams Shepherd, director of business development and tourism for the Chickasaw Nation, said the theme for 2022 is “the future of travel.”

“We are focused on the essential role of travel and tourism in safely reconnecting and improving communities,” Shepherd said. “We like to surprise our visitors in a positive way by encouraging the exploration of new or rarely listed destinations near us.”

According to Shepherd, they look forward to spotlighting all 13 counties of Chickasaw Country throughout the week.

“By visiting and participating in the ‘Spot a Pin to Win’ contest during National Travel and Tourism Week, we can truly showcase and showcase all 13 counties in Chickasaw Country,” she said.

Shepherd said there are a variety of places to visit in the counties.

“From experiencing authentic early American culture at the Chickasaw Cultural Center to hiking in the natural caves at Turner Falls Park, we have a destination for everyone,” she said. “We believe the future of tourism is to explore communities close to home and learn and immerse yourself in different cultures.”

According to a statement, attendees will be entered to win prizes such as a one-night stay at the Artesian Hotel, Casino & Spa, a $100 gift card and other local goodies.

Stops at participating destinations include McSwain Theater, Buzzards Roost Campground, Grady County Historical Society, Zipline 777, Turner Falls Lookout, Chickasaw Nation Visitor Center, and Fort Washita Historical Museum, Lake Texoma State Park, Murray-Lindsay Mansion, Toy and Action Figure Museum, Chickasaw National Recreation Area, Travertine Nature Center, WinStar World Casino and Resort, Chickasaw National Capitol, Chickasaw Nation Information Center Chickasaw Visitor Center and the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center in Duncan.
