Good news. Construction is officially underway to provide additional east-west route and increased road capacity to and from communities in Northwestern Douglas County.

The Douglas County Council of Commissioners met with members of the Sterling Ranch Community Authority Board (CAB) and the Sterling Ranch Development Company on September 2, 2021, to officially celebrate the launch of Phase 2 of the Waterton Road extension.

This extension of Waterton Road from Rampart Range Road to Moore Road will complete the connection to US Highway 85. Sterling Ranch CAB and Sterling Ranch Development Company are contributing 100% of the county’s planned construction costs of $ 16.1 million. of Douglas ensuring the management of the construction of the project.

The County Transportation Master Plan 2040 identifies the need for this project to give residents of Roxborough Village, Chatfield Farms, Roxborough Downs, River Canyon and Sterling Ranch an alternative to Titan Road as they move east. Phase 1 of the project, the construction of a 2.8 mile two-lane road between Airport Road and Moore Road, was completed in August 2020.

This project was accelerated through an August 2020 partnership agreement between the county and Sterling Ranch that maximized profitability and reduced the time required to complete the extension.

The Waterton Road Phase 2 extension is expected to be completed in the fall of 2022.
