Rose Festival Queen’s Coronation – The Official Portland Guide

The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

The Queen of the Rose Festival is chosen from among all Court members and is crowned at the Queen’s Coronation presented by Unitus Community Credit Union. The Queen represents Portland and the Rose Festival for a year in appearances across the country and abroad. When choosing a Queen, judges consider the leadership and academic performance of each member of the court, academic activities, civic engagement, volunteer projects, communication skills, and overall impression.

The Rose Festival Court is made up of up to 15 exceptional young women chosen from high schools in the Portland metro area. After their selection in March, members of the Court attend extracurricular and evening orientation meetings during the month of April. From the first week of May, they travel full time 5 days a week for 5 weeks, visiting community events, business leaders, hospitals, senior living centers, youth organizations and civic groups. Members of the Court also receive one-on-one mentorship from senior women executives, a $ 3,500 scholarship offered by The Randall Group valid for any accredited college, university or professional program, a full wardrobe including shoes and accessories, and a life of lasting friendships with their Sisters Rose Festival Court.
